DocTrain East ‘08 Call for Participation: Content Quality and Software Documentation Are Focus Areas

Held in the high tech sector in Burlington, Massachusetts, October 29-November 1, 2008 the theme of the 10th Annual Documentation and Training East 2008 Conference is Producing Quality Content. The event includes a special track dedicated to software documentation project best practices and lessons learned. If you’re interested in leading a workshop or delivering a presentation or case study, submit your proposal online, no later than April 4, 2008.

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for great presenters to showcase their knowledge, share lessons learned, and deliver case studies aimed at illustrating best practices. We’re also looking for workshop instructors—folks who can teach hands-on classes—to provide half-day educational sessions designed to teach attendees news skills they can use when they return to the office. Proposals that address issues that impact content quality or that highlight innovative software documentation projects are most welcome. Software vendors are encouraged to submit proposals that illustrate how they use their own products—and standards like XML, XSL, DITA, SCORM, S1000D—in house, to create, manage, and deliver product documentation.

What We’re Not Looking For
We’re not looking for software demonstrations that masquerade as presentations. And, we’re not looking for presentations presented by sales and marketing folks. Instead, we’re looking for presentations that explore issues, standards, techniques, processes, and tools that are delivered by folks in the trenches. If you are a software vendor, you’ll have a better chance of getting your proposal accepted when you submit a customer or an employee who uses your product as presenter.

What Attendees Can Expect
This year’s DocTrain East event is sure to be the biggest and best yet. More than 50 presenters and workshop instructors will provide four days of learning and networking opportunities. Our Technology Showcase will include a software and services vendor exhibition hall where companies including Adobe, Author-it, MadCap and PTC will demonstrate their latest offerings. Paid registration is $999 and includes two days of conference presentations AND access to 2 days of Adobe Technical Communication Suite training workshops at no additional cost!
